We are not responsible for any lost or stolen identities. Give out personal information about yourself – age, sex, location, address, phone number, real name, etc. – at your own discretion. We will never ask you to disclose this information to us and you are not obligated to give such information to others unless you want to.

Please Don’t Rape The Language

Do your best to use proper grammar and correct your spelling before posting an entry. Minor typos aren’t going to get you banned, but if half your post is typos, we have a problem. Please use proper English – don’t go overboard on any regional slang – so that others can understand you. l33t and “AOL speak” are not appreciated here.

For Those Who Like Other Languages

If you want to use some random other language phrases, go ahead, but please provide a note of translation at the bottom of the post. Try to avoid using other languages in RP.

Don’t be unnecessarily vulgar or gross. This board is generally regarded as rated R which means that coarse language is okay to use. I swear as much as anybody else does and you won’t be reprimanded for saying something like “I had the worst fucking day at work today!”. However, if you’re going to get really graphic about how sick you got after your wild May 2-4 bash, or how this one sexual position is the best thing ever, put a warning in the subject line so that other members can choose to read or not read (or simply keep it to yourself).

Adult discussion is allowed on this board and as such, the people who come to post here need to be adults.

This place is meant to be fun, but also mature. Regardless of your physical age, we require that your mentality is not that of a 12-year-old..

Because many of our members post from work and will get in trouble at their jobs if pornographic material is found on the sites they are viewing - ADULT IMAGES ON THIS SITE ARE STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. No nudity, partial nudity, or anything you wouldn’t want your boss staring over your shoulder and looking at.

LINKS to mature websites and comics etc. are allowed, but only the link in a text format (don't copy and paste pictures or use a picture banner from the site for your link)

Please include proper warnings so people know what they're getting into before they click.

As far as text goes, sky is the limit, with a few guidelines to go by....

Allowed

- References to alcohol (when it's on topic-- like don't make a thread JUST to talk about booze)

- References to sex (again, when it's on topic)

- Swearing so much it's childish or excessive (if every other word out of your mouth is 'fuck', you'll be hearing from us)

- OOC references to real-life drug use or any other illegal activity

- Encouraging alcohol and/or drug use directly to underage members (encouraging a 16 year old to get drunk etc)

The point of these guidelines is to keep people from "dirtying up" the board with immature constant swearing and talk about sex or booze.

However, as adults we should be able to talk about such things when it's reasonable/casual. Mods will PM members warnings if they're getting a little out of hand.

If you are going to be absent for more than five days… Please be courteous to your fellow players and post in the inactivity section to notify the rest of us so we know when to expect you back.

If you wish to stop playing a certain character, or to quit the game altogether…

Please notify the mods in the inactivity thread so that we can change the account to ‘Terminated’ status. If someone makes an account, but does not apply for a character…

We will delete that account after one month.

If a player goes missing without leaving any notice…

After one month of inactivity without notice, we will retire your characters.

After two months of inactivity without notice, we will delete your accounts.

You must keep up to date with all rule-changes and updates of this board. Minor rules will be updated here, so please keep up-to-date. Major rule changes will be sent out in a board-wide PM.

One At A Time, Please

When applying, do one character at a time. You're applying for one person, not this guy plus his four friends. We ask that new players play their first character for a week or so prior to applying for a second.

Common sense should dictate that the purpose of roleplaying on a board like this is to meet new people to play with, so do not apply for a character who already has a long list of pre-existing friends and social contacts or you’ll simply be “playing with yourself” so to speak.

Original Characters Should Be Original

Please don’t steal other people’s ideas or make characters that seem painfully alike to other’s characters. This includes both the characters of your fellow players here and blatant idea-theft from novels and anime. Make your characters abilities and history detailed, but remember that even the simple characters can do incredible things.

Everything Up Front

Please don’t create characters with hidden pasts or powers. Making up junk that you didn’t put in your profile to make your character more powerful is regarded as power-playing and will not be tolerated. Everything has to be presented up front on your character creation application. If you don’t want to reveal certain powers to other players – please PM your full application to the mods so that we know what’s up and then post an edited character sheet.

You Are Not God

Your character needs to be on par with the other characters on the board. You are now allowed to make a super perfect character of crazy doom that could kill everyone else instantly with the powers in their mind. With strengths go weaknesses. If these are not balanced your application will be denied.

You Are Not The Red Ranger

No stealing from TV or movies for your character either. Borrowing some elements that you thought were cool from a game or show is fine. Deciding you want to play as Sora from Kingdom Hearts is not.

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword

This is not a game focused on combat, so please don't build characters that are purely combat stats and beefcake. This game is about character interaction, people playing off of one another etc. All out battles are not going to happen very often, and if they do they will be well planned by the characters involved, so don't bother too much with giving your character deadly magical powers or any of that.

Your priority when character building should be to make someone who will do well in social situations - not to make a dark brooding mysterious guy who communicates by writing messages in his victims' blood.

Don’t Make Up Connections

You cannot make up characters that are related somehow to the canon cast – no long lost fifth Markus brothers, no mysterious girlfriend of D.

If you want to create and original character with connection to other original characters, clear it with that characters player first and let the mods know they approved of the connection. (ie: I want to play a sister for Moria’s character, so I ask Moria if I can, she says sure, and I post a character sheet)

I Didn’t Know People Were Made Of Cardboard

Role play games hinge on interaction. As such you must make your character approachable. Don’t make a brooding silent type or that is deliberately unapproachable or untalkative. No one will be able to play with you and stay in character at the same time.

Stop Theif!

If you feel that your character has been plagiarized somehow by another player, please come to a mod about it. We’ll try our best to weed out carbon copies in the approval process, but in case we don’t catch one, please let us know.

No Godmodding.

Please don’t make actions toward other players that aim to control their play.

If you want to grab another character’s arm give them the chance to break free. If you want to make an attack, give them an opening to dodge if they so choose. Don’t say things like ‘So and so hit her and knocked her unconscious, then dragged her off to his lair.’

The BEST way to avoid godmodding is to plan scenes with other players. If someone needs to get shot for a scene to go down right, make sure the character getting shot has a player fully behind that turn in the plot.

If someone has godmodded your character by injuring them seriously or changing their history or such not without your permission let us know. We will not do anything about instances like this unless you complain, as we will assume any such actions were planned.

Godmodding Also Includes:

- Inventing new parts of histories for other characters.

- Writing about their thoughts and feelings if they haven’t given you indication of what they are thinking/feeling.

- Telepath characters, please be very careful and plan your scenes well. The nature of your power can be difficult to play properly.

Please Stay In Character

When you are playing on a character account in the RP sections of the board, please speak only as that character. Don’t make out of character (ooc) comments in brackets in threads or anything like that. We have an RPG discussion and character sheets for you to talk about that. Or just PM the players you’re will if you want to say ‘This thread is so cool! XD ‘

Please write your RP posts in third person, past tense. Just to keep a consistent flow, thread to thread.

Some Of Us Are Allergic To Flowery…

Please don’t rape your thesaurus! It only wants to love you! If you use it to facilitate going on for three paragraphs about the same thing I’m going to have to call in the grammar Nazi and you won’t like that….

Members are free to use any kind of pictures they like for avatars and signatures, as long as they

do not contain nudity.

Images containing nakedness get picked up easily by ‘cock-blocking’ software that runs on many company computers and if you post pictures of naked people – in your avatars, tags/signatures or elsewhere - this can result in members who post from work not being able to play at all. PLEASE watch out for nudity in the photos you post! This policy is strictly enforced.

Show Us Your Pretty Face!

On your character accounts – please find or create an avatar or signature that shows us what your character looks like! That gives us a face to your name. A thread is available in The RPG section to ‘claim’ the appearance of a particular character as ‘yours’ so that others don’t make you a twin. (ie: Amaterasu looks like Rosette from Chrono Crusade – please no one else use Rosette for their avatar.)

Avatars and sigs must not use real people or photo-realistic pictures. Please stick to drawn or computer graphic material (especially in anime style).

Dimensions

The maxium dimensions for an avatar on Proboards is 100 pixels by 100 pixels – the same as on LiveJournal. Tags should not exceed 300 pixels in height or 600 pixels in width.

To try to keep things a bit less cluttered, particular threads in some places should be kept to particular topics.

Original characters application - just for applying as an original character

Canon character application – just for applying as a canon character

Suggestions, comments and requests - Only post to make a suggestion or discuss it

Activity Notice - Only post to tell when you are available/unavailable

Character Claiming - Only post to claim a character to use in your avatar of signature

Available Player - Only post to show us when you are available

Etc.

The Banhammer

Smitings with the almighty banhammer will occur for offenses including but not limited to the one’s listed below:

- Posting pornographic or other kinds of offensive material on the forum.

- Making racist, sexist etc. remarks

- Harassing or abusing other members.

- Being repeatedly rude or disrespectful to other members.

- Repeatedly breaking the rules.

- Repeated raping of the English language or it’s thesaurus.
