San Jose IBM PC Club  - Web E-mail FAQ's

The Club's Web e-mail program is a modified version of Endymion MailMan.  The program was changed to include a Club information header and settings to handle sending and receiving mail using the SJPC mail/web server.  The program enables you to check your mail on any PC with Internet access when you are out of the area.  The way you check your mail is go on the Internet, select the Club's home page, link to the Club's Web e-mail program, and login.

The following FAQ's may be helpful if you plan to use the SJPC Web e-mail program.

How do I login to the SJPC Web e-mail program?
Can I check e-mail from accounts other than the SJPC account?
Can I send e-mail as well as check mail with the program?

How do I login to the SJPC Web e-mail program?

Launch your browser, go to the Club home page at http://www.sjpc.org, click the Check Your Mail link on the left side of the page, enter your userid and password, and click Login.  The Inbox screen will appear which will show any messages that have been received.



Can I check e-mail from accounts other than the SJPC account?

No.  The SJPC mail program is setup to access only the SJPC mail, and there is no way to modify the incoming and outgoing mail server addresses.



Can I send e-mail as well as check mail with the program?

Yes.  The SJPC mail program has a compose option to construct a message to send.



Does the program have help information?

Yes.  After you login to the SJPC mail program, you can click on the Help option on the left side of the page.



Does the program have an address book?

No.  If you are going out of the area, you should print a hard copy of your address book or store it on a removable storage media (floppy disk, zip disk, CD etc.) to take with you.



Does the program handle attachments?

Yes.  The program handles receiving and sending mail with attachments.  The program's help information describes how to handle attachments.
