Text mode accessing of the Internet, handling of e-mail, and other functions
on the SJPC server are done using a SSH connection. The SSH connection
can be made using an application program such as PuTTY. Since it
is a text only protocol, it is very difficult to surf the Web because the
graphic content can not be viewed. You can send and receive mail
using a Pine mail program on the SJPC server, but it is much more difficult
that using the mail programs available on your PC. Although text
mode is difficult to use, it is a valuable tool for some Technical Support
functions.
