The meeting was called to order by President Jose Medeiros. The minutes were approved as written. There is a total of $1,682.04 in the treasury.
Berryessa Citizen of the Year Award: Cory Barfield. The nominating committee, Frieda McKellar, Bill Hughes and I, will meet after this meeting tonight. Please let one of us know if you have a nomination. The award will be made at the February meeting.

Office of Cultural Affairs, City of San Jose: Marie Ferrer and Lynn Rogers.
The Arts Council consists of 15 members appointed by the City Council. They would like to establish San Jose as a regional art center. The first plan made for the arts was in 1988 called Arts 2020. The plan was reevaluated in 1994 as most of the goals were reached.
A new plan that is now being drafted and will go before the Arts Council and then the City Council. The Arts Council has gathered information from the public and set goals for the future. It was found that one in three citizens is highly interested in the arts and would more likely attend a live performance than a sporting event. The greatest need seems to be for a mid-size theater seating from 1000 to 1500. The public would also like to see an art curriculum in the schools and would be willing to pay extra taxes for this subject. Another goal is to have a civic gallery and artists’ live/work spaces. There is support for more art programs and performances in the neighborhoods.
When the plan is set, the council will look for funding from companies. The arts are now funded by the general
fund of the city and by the transient occupancy tax.
BCAC Constitution Change: Medeiros
It was MSP to add an additional two members-at-large to the Board of Directors. The Constitution will now read: Article IV. Officers: Officers shall be elected from the general membership. The officers shall consist of president, vice-president, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, treasurer, four members-at-large and the past president. Appointed were Linda Curry Herman and Sam Fukui. Jeff Ota will head the Technical Committee so we will have a page on the Internet.
Announcements: Bill Hughes gave out certificates of appreciation to the old board members on behalf of former president, Ron Harwell.
