Our comments from Leh:

Staying in Leh was an amazing experience for us. We had heard mixed reviews from other travelers, many people saying "Get out of Leh as soon as you can". When we first arrived it was clear why. There seemed to be more pizza then tibetian food and more Israelies then Ladakhi's. Luckily we arrived in september, at the end of the tourist season. As winter weather begins to show, most of the tourists head down to Manali before the road closes and then on to Goa. They are followed by the majority of the people running the tourist restaurants. With most of the tourists gone and the pizza places closed, Leh turns into a small town with a lot of charm.

Luckily we were able to get in touch with Cynthia Hunt and do some volunteer work with Health Inc. We both helped teach villiagers how to assemble solar lanterns. Joe made an assembly video in both English and Ladakhi and Sejal made a child development video to teach village women what to expect as their child grows. It was an incredible experience and we really enjoyed ourselves. We also helped run a workshop in the small remote villiage of Domkhar. See pics of from Domkhar here.
