Our comments from Jodhpur:

Jodhpur is known as the blue city in Rajastan. The old city is a sea of brahmin blue houses with the Mehrangarh fort perched high above it. It actually reminded us of a bigger Bundi. We spent five days here exploring the old city--it's sights, smells, and colors. From every twist and turn you take in its narrow alleyways, you smell spice, incense, and sewage...you see the glitter of decorative sarees, or colorful lentils in the open markets. Jodhpur is definitely a vibrant city!

On the first day we were there, Joe took Sejal out for a belated birthday celebration that entailed a trip to very sad-looking zoo (it should have been a farm house because all it had were bunnies, birds, turtles and a crocodile!). Afterwards we went to a Hindi film called "Just Married"...we highly recommend this one because unlike some Hindi movies, it has a really a sweet message behind it. Plus, it was perfect for us honeymooners! At night, Joe saved the best for last--a romantic dinner atop the Mehrangarh Fort. We felt like royalty eating outside on the palace terrace and enjoying Jodhpur's skyline from above. This was also the first time that we had chicken in a looong time, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!

During the rest of the days, we went to Mehrangarh Fort and some of the other sights. Other days, we spent hiding away from the heat. By this time, it was end of March and the desert temperature was sky rocketing. We had to change our schedule to waking up early, taking siestas in the afternoon and then venturing out once again once the temperatures cooled off in the evening. We were a little nervous about going Jaisalmer...our next stop because this was a real desert town. But as you will see next, we had a wonderful time there as well.
