Dalat in the Central Highlands

Finally, we found a way to escape from the heat! Dalat is in the Central Highlands and much cooler than the rest of Vietnam. It's the most popular honeymoon vacation spot in Vietnam and since it's summertime we found ourselves in a carnival-like atmosphere, but the surroundings are beautiful and the pines trees reminded us of home.

Cable car ride from the highest hill in Dalat

The buddhist temple near paradise lake was completely overrun by visitors. It was beautiful, but not very peaceful

The first waterfall we visited was crowded as well, complete with a cowboy and a guy dressed as a bear to get your picture with!

We asked our "easy-rider" motorbike guide to take us away from the crowd and went to the countryside

Dragon Pagoda

Tiger falls

Vien Thuc the "Crazy Monk" & Lam Ty Ni Pagoda. Vien Thuc is the only Monk in this pagoda and sends his time creating hundreds of works of art. He is very eccentric and won't stand still for more than a few seconds. We visited when there was no-one else there so it was an interesting experience.
